Here is my interview about the release of the Teacher Data Reports on WPIX news on February 23. (Sorry for the delay -- I finally got the embed code from the producers today.)
In the segment, I make the point that the mayor is trying to use these invalid and unreliable ratings as a way to scapegoat teachers and divert attention from his failure to improve NYC schools.

Are you saying to blame the mayor for the ten years?
ReplyDelete"Absolutely"..
*The best line in the segment...***
Kind of remarkable how presumptuous that reporter was. Great responses from you!
ReplyDeleteLove that line - "blame the mayor for the ten years? Absolutely..."
ReplyDeleteThat's a statement everyone should chant at the next PEP meeting.
Leonie you rock!
I like your interview, though I do not agree that it's important to evaluate teachers. If ineffective teachers are not causing the problem, then they're not an important part of the solution.
ReplyDeleteThe problem, which the deformers refuse to acknowledge, is the documented challenges faced by disadvantaged children. http://sanford.duke.edu/research/papers/SAN11-01.pdf We can't begin to address the problem until we start talking about it.
Leonie - you have a perfect face for radio!
ReplyDeleteWonderful interview. You shut down that reporter's 'bad-teacher frame' in a New York second.
ReplyDeleteAND, you looked marvelous!
Wow Leonie! You are such an inspiration! Thank you for speaking out for us all...
