NYC Kids PAC Mayor's Report Card and Candidate Survey Now Online

 Dear Parents;
Welcome back to a new school year!  On Tuesday, we released our third annual report card for Mayor de Blasio, which is posted here.
Our consensus is that his education policies and that of Chancellor Farina have been disappointing in many respects, revealing a troubling disregard for parent input, a failure to significantly lessen the focus on test prep and high stakes testing, an inadequate focus on school overcrowding, segregation and class size, a lack of transparency, and continued spending on wasteful consultants, contracts and bureaucrats. Articles about our report card were published in the  NY Post , DNAinfo and Chalkbeat .
The Democratic primary for City Council races is next Tuesday, Sept. 12, and there are many interesting contested races.  We have posted responses to our candidate survey for the following eight City Council districts on our website here:
  • District 2: East Village, Gramercy Park, Kips Bay, Lower East Side, Murray Hill, Rose Hill;
  • District 4: Upper East Side, Carnegie Hill, Yorkville, Central Park South, Midtown East, Times Square, Koreatown, Peter Cooper Village and Stuyvesant Town, Waterside Plaza, Tudor City, Turtle Bay, Murray Hill, Sutton Place
  • District 8: El Barrio/East Harlem, Mott Haven, Highbridge, Concourse, Longwood, Port Morris
  • District 18: Soundview, Castle Hill, Parkchester, Clason Point, Harding Park
  • District 34:Williamsburg, Bushwick, Ridgewood
  • District 35: Fort Greene, Clinton Hill, Crown Heights, Prospect Heights, Bedford Stuyvesant
  • District 38: Red Hook, Sunset Park, Windsor Terrace
  • District 43: Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights, Bensonhurst, Bath Beach
Please be assured that we reached out to all the candidates in these districts with our survey -- sometimes several times -- and all the surveys we received are posted on that page.
We also received a survey from Sal Albanese — the only mayoral candidate to complete the survey– and a  one-pager from the de Blasio campaign, though they refused to fill out the survey.
Our endorsements in many of these races will be released Friday – stay tuned until then.

Thanks, Shino
