Today's my birthday - will you help us keep Class Size Matters going?

Today's my birthday, and I’ve been reflecting on many things, including our advocacy for smaller classes and student privacy over many years. Despite all the challenges we’ve faced, I am proud of this community of parents, teachers, and concerned advocates we have built. You have helped Class Size Matters accomplish so much for New York’s families and children over the past few months.

Here is a sample:

• 746 schools are receiving funding to hire teachers to lower class size next year; and together, we are continuing to fight for all NYC public schools and all students to have the same opportunity;

• With other privacy allies, we persuaded the NYC Department of Health to rewrite its contract with Talkspace and for Talkspace to revise its Privacy Policy, to better protect the sensitive mental health data of NYC teens;

• Our complaint to the State Education Department forced DOE to rewrite their guidance to principals, so that no student could be assigned to an online class without parent consent.

But there are many fights ahead. With the city refusing to make enough space for smaller classes in hundreds of schools, and the continued attacks by Trump on our education system and funding, it’s more important than ever that we continue to strive for full educational equity and justice. To do that, we need your help.

Will you join us today and support Class Size Matters? By donating today, you’re ensuring that Class Size Matters will be better prepared for the challenges ahead. Any contribution is appreciated, but a recurring donation would be especially welcome.

There are many challenges ahead, but I feel hopeful we can win because of the support of people like you. Thanks for being with us in this critical fight.

Many thanks, Leonie
