The first day of school for students will be Wednesday, September 9th.

The original calendar had teachers and students reporting together on the 8th. When it was pointed out to the mayor and chancellor how that didn't make much sense, the first day for students was moved back a day. The last day was moved back a day as well. The last day is now Monday, June 28th.

Several posters pointed out to me that the 28th was actually on the DoE calendar before the deal that postponed the school opening. I'm not sure whether it was or was not originally intended as a student attendance day.
NYC Ed,
It was not originally scheduled as a student attendance day. I fear the absentee rate is likely to be high. It makes little sense for the last day of school to be a Monday.
